Recording studio in Milan, summer 2007

Massimo Martellotta is on the guitar, Enrico Gabrielli is on vintage organs and flute, Fabio Rondanini is on the drums, Luca Cavina is on the bass and Tommaso Colliva is tweaking knobs on the mixing desk. Like the old days: four musicians in the same room. Fuzz guitar riffs, distorted organs, hypnotic bass lines and funk grooves fill the air of the live room. The first chapter of the saga, dedicated to italian gangster movie soundtracks, will be named "Calibro35".

The goal is clear from the very beginning: playing golden age italian soundtrack themes, staying true to the original Maestros' ideas but adding some modern spices to them. Original compositions follow the same skeme: the band recreates the sound, the attitude and the musical mix that made italian soundtracks known worldwide. The band held its first concerts ever outside italian borders and started getting recognition from important radios worldwide such as BBC, KCRW e RadioRAI.

From spring 2008 the band starts touring Europe and Italy while the single "L'Appuntamento" featuring Roberto dell'Era hits the radio chart in Italy. The first record receives great reviews from the press while the band is recognized as the best new italian act of 2008. In November 2009 the band wins the "Best Tour Award" at MEI (Italian Independent Music Meeting).

The band goes back to the recording studio to work on the soundtrack for "Eurocrime", an american documentary on italian gangster movies from the '70s, and to record the second album. "Ritornano Quelli di..." is released worldwide through Ghost (Europe) and Nublu Records (US) during 2010. The album includes eight original compositions and five vintage soundtrack themes but it's almost impossible to spot what's new and what's old without reading liner notes. The record gets enthusiastic reviews on both sides of the ocean on magazines like Rolling Stones, Mojo, XL and many others.

The following tour confirms Calibro 35 as a live music force of nature with the band playing everywhere in Italy, opening for Muse at San Siro Stadium in Milan and for Ramstein at "Nova Rock Festival" in Austria. The band wins "Best Italian Live Band" at KeepOn Awards 2010.

Songs by Calibro 35 has been used on many documentaries and TV shows. The band wrote original tracks for quite a few italian movies including "Said", "La Banda Del Brasiliano" (italian cinematic case for 2010) and the highly anticipated "Gli Angeli del Male" (Venice Film Festival 2010). "Calling All Units to Broccolino", from the second album, is included in the soundtrack for "R.E.D." starring Bruce Willis and John Malkovich.
